I've never done affiliate marketing. Can I actually earn money here?

A plain-language guide for people who have never referred anyone to anything before.

"I didn't know what a referral program was either. Here's how I'd explain it to my mom."

Let's start from zero

Referral marketing sounds complicated until someone explains it with a restaurant analogy. You go to a great new place for dinner. You tell three friends. One of them goes and loves it. The restaurant gives you a voucher for your next meal. That's it. That's referral marketing.

The multi-level part (don't let it scare you)

"Multi-level" sounds like it might be a pyramid scheme. It isn't. Here's the honest version:
